The conductor and musicologist Alberto Zedda has died at the age of 89. Zedda included Carlo Maria Giulini as one of his mentors, and he built a flourishing international career as a conductor of opera. He also prepared Critical Editions of works by numerous composers, principally the operas of Rossini.

Alberto Zedda was born in Milan on 2 January 1928 and he died on 6 March 2017.
