The total proceeds from ticket sales and donations for the benefit concert of the German President on 12 March 2017 to support the work of UNICEF amounted to nearly 140,000 euros.
All income and donations are designated for UNICEF, the Children’s Fund of the United Nations. For 70 years UNICEF has defended the rights of all children throughout the world. The Children’s Fund has made it possible for more children to survive, go to school and be protected from exploitation than ever before. The Berliner Philharmoniker have been international UNICEF Ambassadors since 2007.
Martin Hoffmann, General Manager of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation: “We are delighted about these tremendous results and hope we can provide long-term support for UNICEF. Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated and helped make the President’s benefit concert possible and, above all, thanks to our partners at UNICEF.”
Dr. Jürgen Heraeus, Chairman of UNICEF Germany: “Despite many advances, today we are still confronted with enormous challenges and crises; countless children are in urgent need of our help. In times like these it is invaluable for us to have a reliable partner like the Berliner Philharmoniker at our side."
