Steven Isserlis was awarded the Cobbett Medal today in a ceremony at the Musicians' Company in London. The medal recognises services to Chamber Music and previous winners include Edward Elgar, Pablo Casals, William Walton and Yehudi Menuhin.

This is the third award Isserlis has been honored with this year, having received the Glashütte Original Music Festival Award in recognition of his work in classical music education, and the Wigmore Medal in recognition of his longstanding relationship with the Wigmore Hall and achievements as a musician and champion of classical music.

Inaugurated in 1924 and endowed by Walter Willson Cobbett, the Cobbett Medal is presented annually to a distinguished musician, selected by the Court of the Musicians' Company, for service to Chamber Music.
