THE 2019 PARKHOUSE AWARD : DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: 1 DECEMBER 2018
Auditions: 16/17 April 2019 at Guildhall School of Music & Drama
Finals Concert 20 April 2019 at Wigmore Hall at 1pm
The biennial Parkhouse Award stages its 15th competition in 2019. Open internationally to ensembles of piano with strings, specifically duos of violin, viola or cello with piano, piano trio or piano quartet, past luminaries include the first ever prize-winners, the Grieg Trio (1991/Norway), the Fauré Quartett (2003/Germany), the Amatis Piano Trio (2015/Holland) and Trio Sōra (2017/France).
The Parkhouse Award was founded in 1990 to commemorate the life and work of the distinguished chamber pianist, David Parkhouse, who was a founder member of the Music Group of London with his wife, cellist Eileen Croxford, and violinist Hugh Bean. As the Music Group of London they toured internationally and were quoted as having ‘quite exceptional talent…dedicated musicianship and a technical excellence that is outstanding’. This is what the Parkhouse Award aims to help one young ensemble to achieve, by providing advice and support towards concerts in major London venues plus performances around the UK.
