The Berliner Philharmoniker set out on their first Asian tour with Gustavo Dudamel as conductor. The tour opens on Monday with a concert at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, followed by nine concerts in six cities: Nakhon Pathom, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Shenzhen, Xi’an and Beijing. The tour programme includes works by Leonard Bernstein, Dmitri Shostakovich, Gustav Mahler and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Soloists for the tour will be Tamara Mumford, mezzo-soprano, and Lang Lang, piano.
The Berliner Philharmoniker will appear for the first time in Thailand, performing at Nakhon Pathom’s Prince Mahidol Hall (9 November 2018). The orchestra then travels to Taipei for two concerts at the National Concert Hall (11 and 13 November), followed by a concert at the newly opened National Center for the Arts in Kaohsiung (14 November). The Berliner Philharmoniker will make another debut with two concerts at Shenzhen’s Concert Hall (16 and 17 November).
The orchestra will also appear for the first time at the Concert Hall in Xi’an (20 November). The tour concludes with two concerts at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing (22 and 23 November).
