Tetbury Music Festival has teamed up with BBC Radio 3 to present a weekend of Chamber Music from 22 to the 24 March, featuring leading chamber ensemble The Calidore String Quartet alongside world-class soloists Jennifer Pike and Zhang Zuo. All three concerts will take place at St Mary's Church, Tetbury and be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
New York City based ensemble The Calidore String Quartet opens the Chamber Weekend on Friday 22 March with a performance of Prokofiev’s String Quartet No. 2 and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 10. The following evening, the Quartet is joined by pianist Zhang Zuo for works by Schumann, Caroline Shaw, Mendelssohn, Golijov and Beethoven.
The Calidore String Quartet join forces with Jennifer Pike and Zhang Zuo on Sunday 24 March, bringing the weekend to a close with Chausson’s Concerto in D major, Op. 21 for Violin, Piano and String Quartet.
All the artists performing are former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists, now well established in their international careers. The BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists Scheme holds prestige around the world, and brings some of the most promising new talent to listeners across the UK through BBC Radio 3 broadcasts.
