The New York Philharmonic returned to picturesque Colorado for its 17th annual summer residency at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival. Jaap van Zweden conducted the first three concerts of the residency — concluding his inaugural season as Music Director with Beethoven, Brahms, Britten, and more. Alexander Joel led an evening of movie music. The New York Philharmonic concluded its 17th annual summer residency at the picturesque Bravo! Vail Music Festival with two irresistible programs led by Leonard Slatkin: a charming evening of Cole Porter — joined by vocalists Nicole Cabell, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Ben Bliss, and Rod Gilfry — and a passionate night of Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky with pianist Yefim Bronfman. Philharmonic musicians took the occasional hike and worked with New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers of Vail.
