LES MISÉRABLES AND HAMILTON COME TO BBC PROMS IN THE PARK AND MUSICAL THEATRE SUPERGROUP THE CARDINALS JOIN THE BILL

Saturday 14 September, Hyde Park, London

Two of the greatest and most popular musicals of all time, Les Misérables and Hamilton will feature at this year’s BBC Proms in the Park.

One of the most spectacular and popular musicals of all time, the Cameron Mackintosh-produced Les Misérables is the world’s longest running musical now in its 35th year in London. Stars of the current staged concert, including Carrie Hope Fletcher, Shan Ako and Michael Ball, will perform hits such as ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, ‘On My Own’ and ‘Stars’ for this year’s Proms in the Park audience with a special guest appearance from the musical’s composer Claude-Michel Schönberg.

Jon Robyns, who plays King George in the West End production of Hamilton, will sing ‘You’ll Be Back’ from the multi award winning musical. With Book, Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today.

The final part of this year’s musical theatre sequence will feature The Cardinals, the super-group comprised of four leading musical superstars Ben Forster, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Celinde Schoenmaker and Ramin Karimloo. The quartet have between them performed in some of the world’s most famous musicals. At Proms in the Park 2019, they will combine their unique, spellbinding talent to sing an arrangement of Lady Gaga’s ‘Shallow’ from A Star is Born.

All of this year’s musical theatre numbers will be backed by the 60-piece BBC Concert Orchestra.

The latest additions will join an incredible line up of artists, featuring headliner Barry Manilow, Chrissie Hynde, Jack Savoretti, Lighthouse Family and Gabrielle.
