Following on from their acclaimed production of Ethel Smyth's The Wreckers in October 2018, Arcadian Opera will perform Charles Gounod's Romeo & Juliet on the 19th & 20th of October 2019 with support from Arts Council England.
Gounod's rarely performed opera has exquisite music and is a mesmerising vehicle for the age-old Italian story made so famous by Shakespeare. Once again Arcadian Opera employs established professional performers for the lead roles, accompanied by the Arcadian Opera Chorus, Children's Chorus and Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Justin Lavender. Stage Director Ali Marshall has designed the sets and costumes, placing the action in fifteenth century Italy.
